
Classic course: this 8K (4.97 miles) course will be USATF-certified. From 1979-1995 this 8K was part of the Crescent City Classic 10K.
STARTING PROCEDURE
The Shamrockin’ Run New Orleans 8K will have a wave start system in place to start the 2014 event. Runners will be seeded into groups along Camp Street according to your estimated 8K-finish time. Each group will be staged in a holding corral prior to the start of their group. Inside each corral runners will find, portable restrooms, Gatorade Thirst Quencher and Aquiana Springs Water.
Reminder to Runners: The chip-timing system will not record a starting time for a runner until that runner has crossed the timing mats at the start line. Time spent waiting to cross the start line is NOT included in the scored finish time for a runner.
START LOCATION:
The start of the Shamrockin’ Run New Orleans will take place on Camp Street near the corner of Andrew Higgins Blvd in downtown New Orleans. (Near the National World War II Museum on Camp Street)
RACE COURSE:
Recognize this 8 kilometers? The answer has to be a resounding yes! This 8 kilometers was once part of what many believe is the fastest and most beautiful road race course in the world. For the first 16 years this 8 kilometers was part of the Crescent City Classic 10K Road Race which during that time broke several 10K world best on this simple, flat stretch of pavement!
Runners will leave from the National World War II Museum in New Orleans and run through the beautiful Garden District and uptown areas of the city before entering Audubon Park at Prytania Street. Once in Audubon Park, athletes will have another 1.2 miles to the finish line as they run past the beautiful homes that circle this majestic park.
To help you get to that green finish line, the Shamrockin’ Run New Orleans will have Bag Pipers and Irish Bands at every mile along the 8K race course. Come prepared to party through the most beautiful 4.97 miles in the city of New Orleans!!!
Race Management will have aid and medical stations at every mile along this 8K course complete with Aquiana Springs Water, Gatorade Thirst Quencher and portable restrooms.
FINISH LOCATION:
The finish line for the Shamrockin’ Run New Orleans will be inside Audubon Park on the Audubon Park Trail where Camp Street enters the west side of the park. Athletes will cross the finish line and head to the Band Shell area that runs adjacent to Magazine Street for the best post-event party outside of Ireland. The renowned 610 Stompers will be dancing at the finish line to get the party started!

SHUTTLE BUSES
Shuttle Buses returning athletes to the start area will begin leaving Audubon Park at 10:00am and continue until 1:30 pm. Only athletes wearing official Shamrockin’ Run New Orleans bib numbers will be allowed to board buses. Please see the bus loading area location on the shuttle bus map below!
